Supporting The Anthony School
I attended my first Grand Friend Day more than twenty years ago and my last one in 2023. That day felt especially meaningful; it was the end of an era for our family but also a reminder of what TAS gave us over those years. My grandsons all took what they learned here and carried it with them into high school, college, and beyond.
As a retired English teacher with fifty years in the classroom, I can tell you that the difference in TAS students is real. Year after year, when I taught high school, I could always spot graduates from The Anthony School: They stood out for their preparation, their curiosity, their creativity, and their kindness.
That’s what Whole Child Education looks like in action. It’s more than excellent academics, though those are certainly here! It’s about helping children discover their voices, their interests, and their sense of purpose. It’s about learning that builds character, community, and individuality — all of the qualities that make our grandchildren extraordinary human beings.
That’s why I continue to give to The Anthony School each year. I give because I’ve seen the impact firsthand in the teachers who go the extra mile and the students who leave TAS not just ready for high school but ready for life.
I hope you have caught a glimpse of that same magic. I hope you have seen the spark in your grandchildren’s eyes and felt proud of the joyful, challenging, nurturing environment at TAS. That’s what your support helps sustain.
-Kathryn Smith, Grandmother of Three TAS Alumni
