Meet Sammy - TAS Therapy Dog

Samantha "Sammy" Minerva Taylor is The Anthony School's beloved Golden Retriever therapy dog. Affectionately known as Sammy, she brings smiles, comfort, and plenty of tail wags to our school community.

Now one-year-old, Sammy is proudly beginning her first year as a full-time Anthony School employee. She will be certified through Pet Partners, one of the nation's leading therapy animal organizations, and is excited to serve students, faculty, and staff every day.

Sammy is a Golden Retriever, a breed carefully chosen for its gentle temperament, intelligence, trainability, and friendly energy level—qualities that make Golden Retrievers exceptional therapy and school dogs. She was born on April 9, 2025, and was bred by Arkansas Golden Retrievers. She was selected from their Harry Potter litter…what could be more appropriate for a school dog! Sammy joined her family in May 2025.

Even as a tiny puppy, Sammy spent her summer at The Anthony School, attending summer camp to become familiar with the sights, sounds, and routines of school life while building positive relationships with students and faculty. Early socialization was an important part of preparing her for her role as a calm, confident, and caring member of our community.

Sammy's training began immediately, and was continued and expanded under the guidance of professional trainer Bailey Suett of Dog Training Elite. Through consistent training and positive reinforcement, she has developed the skills needed to become a certified therapy dog and continues to grow in her role each day.

Whether greeting students in the morning, offering comfort during a challenging day, encouraging reluctant readers, or simply bringing joy with her friendly personality, Sammy is an important part of The Anthony School family. We look forward to watching her continue to grow alongside our students and to the many moments of learning, kindness, confidence, and companionship she will inspire for years to come.

Favorite Treats: Sammy isn't picky! She loves just about every kind of food, especially fresh fruit and, of course, any dog treat.

Favorite Toys: Tennis balls are at the top of her list, but she also adores stuffed animals—the squeakier, the better!

Favorite Activities: Getting lots of pets and scratches from friends, playing catch, and spending time with the students and staff at The Anthony School.
