Music
At The Anthony School, music is an essential part of nurturing the whole child. From PreK3 through 4th grade, students participate in regular music classes where they sing, move, create, and explore the many ways music helps us connect, communicate, and express ourselves.
Strings
Beginning in Kindergarten, students learn the ukulele—an accessible, joyful introduction to strings and chord structure. In 2nd through 4th grades, students participate in our formal strings program, where they learn to read music, recognize rhythm and patterns, and develop foundational technique. These early experiences help students build confidence, persistence, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
Music Curriculum
Our music curriculum blends traditional instruction with creative exploration. Students compose original pieces using GarageBand and experiment with sound layering, digital tools, and simple recording techniques. They also engage in music appreciation, listening to and discussing a wide range of genres, cultures, and musical traditions.

Our well-equipped music spaces allow students to experience music in hands-on, exciting ways. We have a complete set of African drums and a wide assortment of percussion instruments, as well as Orff instruments that support improvisation, collaboration, and playful music-making.
At TAS, music is more than a class—it is a meaningful part of each child’s school experience and a powerful way for students to discover their voice, creativity, and confidence.
