The allies
were a group of countries that opposed the Central
Powers (Italy, Germany, and Japan). There were
many, but the main ones were the U.S., Great
Britain, France, Russia, and Canada. They opposed
the Nazis and all they stood for, yet there were
Nazi groups in these countries too. After France
was invaded and occupied, the Allies launched a
major offensive known as D-Day, which turned the
tide of the war in favor of the Allies. These
countries eventually conquered the Central Powers
and won World War II.
