They arrested all peoples of "inferior breeding" (gypsies, handicapped, homosexuals, and mainly Jews) and took them to death camps. These people were literally worked to death, starved, gassed, or experimented upon. Families were separated. Some families went into hiding; some of those families were caught, yet some survived. Anne Frank's family is one of the best known. Six million Jews alone were killed in the Holocaust as well as at lest a million others.
