Some say that he himself was the cause of this dreadful event. As a young man, he wanted to be an artist. The art school he wanted to go to refused him. Despairing, Hitler joined Germany's army and qiuckly rose through the ranks. At the end of World War I, Germany was thrown into a depression. Most blamed it on the Jews. Feeding on the hatred, he created the Nazi Party(link) and became involved in politics. Hitler was soon placed second-in-command and before long became chancellor of Germany. He created an army and set out to conquer Europe and eliminate all "inferior" races. Eventually, Germany was defeated by the allies. Hitler supposedly committed suicide in a bunker when he knew he had finally been defeated.
