Overview

A string program was added to the Anthony School music curriculum in 2001. Violin instruction is given in small groups to all students in first and second grades. String instruction is offered to third through eighth grades by request during the school day.

Our goal is for students to have an appreciation for the family of string instruments and the musician. Students will develope proper string instrument posture and bowhold. Our students obtain musical literacy through the Family String Method enabling them to be excellent sight readers while playing their string instrument. They will experience success in playing solo and in group ensembles. Each student in the Anthony String Program will be part of the May string program, which is always the first Friday in May.
