Reading Counts

Reading Counts is a fun, exciting reading incentive program that encourages our students to pick up a good book and read! After reading a book, a student can log into the computers in the library or in his or her classroom and take a ten-question quiz on the book. If the student answers 7 out of 10 questions correctly, he will receive reward points. The number of points earned varies, according to reading level of the book. At the end of the school year, each student who participates in the Reading Counts program and earns at least 50 points will receive a certificate.

Reward certificates are as follows:

Red - 50 points

Bronze - 100 points

Silver - 250 points

Gold - 500 points

But there's more fun along the way! Throughout the school year (about every 5 to 6 weeks), the librarian will hold a random drawing from among the names of students who have passed quizzes in the Reading Counts program, and prizes will be given away! Students are divided into two groups: 2nd through 5th grades and 6th through eighth grades. Prizes include gift certificates for the book fair, ice cream, Sonic, books, and a grand prize of a $25 gift certificate to the book store for each division. So grab a good book and start reading!

Winners of each drawing will be announced over the intercom and posted in the Anthony Newsletter. The newletter will be e-mailed to parents each week and is also posted under News and Info on the Anthony School website.
