Read-A-Thon

The Annual Anthony School Read-A-Thon will begin on February 4, 2008. This year we will be having a "kick off" week giving students time to collect those pledges! All Anthony Students will receive a packet containing information regarding the Read-a-thon on February 4, 2008. All students, PreK3's to eighth grade, will be able to participate in this fundraiser, designed not only to raise money, but to get those kids reading. Participating students will collect pledges from friends and family for reading age appropriate material (or being read to, in case of pre-readers) for 20 minute units. A copy of the Pledge Tracker Sheet will be due on Monday, February 11. During the course of the Read-A-Thon, students will be eligible for weekly door prizes. In addition, a party will be awarded each week to the class with the highest percentage participation. The both the class prizes and the individual drawings are done by division, the PreK-4 is not competing with the 5th grade. The class with the highest percentage of participation at the end of the Read-A-Thon will receive a pizza party catered by the Parentcrew and their teacher will have his/her lunch duties covered by a Parentcrew member. The three students will the most minutes read will also receive an individual prize. This Read-a-thon will hopefully instill a habit of reading for the students while raising money to fill the beautiful new shelves.
